In the last few days, care of a link posted by
penguingod, I've been observing a debate wholly distinct from anything I've encountered before in feminist discourse -- and the whole of this discussion has unexpectedly transformed my perception of feminism and my own place within it. I'd like to share with you my assessment of the discussion, and the conclusions I've come to reach from it, in large part because I would greatly appreciate any thoughts you might have about these issues, and about the conclusions I've drawn from them. I should probably stress that I welcome comment from all genders/sexes on my friends list; and furthermore that I hope only civil discourse will arise from a conversation such as this.
( On Transsexuals, Trans Activism, and the Notion of Necessary Non-Inclusivity in Feminism )
But what do you think? Does anything stand out as glaringly wrong about any of this? Is it impossible to question the automatic, universal place of transwomen in feminism without being transphobic in some regard? Are there arguments here I've fatally overlooked?
Many thanks for your comments in advance.
